Reviews about AT&T Authorized Retailer

For the record, this company had a chance to speak to me directly and thereby alleviate this poor review. I filled out a form on the website and emailed the manager directly. Here is my story from December 2017. This afternoon my wife and I purchased two iPhone 8’s as upgrades from the store on Beville Road in Daytona today. The store wasn’t too busy and our wait to see Sarah was only a few minutes. Sarah was kind, patient and knowledgeable about the plans and phones offered by AT&T. She was able to explain and show us how easy it would be to upgrade our phones. Unfortunately, that is where the easy ends. First, Sarah seemed to be having problems with the equipment. The AT&T website failed to populate and was generally slow. This caused the phone buying process to drag on and on. This was compounded by the failure of the office equipment to allow us to validate our accounts. That, as you probably know, had to be done via a phone call, not once, but twice. This added at least an additional 30 minutes to our phone buying experience. This whole process took an additional turn for the worse as the manual credit card authorization process triggered our security protocols from our corporate American Express. We use our American Express card to track our corporate expenses, and that’s important to us. However, with our phones disabled by the buying process we were unable to reauthorize our credit card account, so the next time Sarah needed to charge our account (which was charged 3 separate times I might add) the authorization was declined. Forced to use an additional card in our wallet, this process seriously messed with our accounting processes. But what really flummoxed me was that I was FORCED to purchase insurance. When Sarah and I talked about the purchase price she mentioned insurance, I declined then in spite of her ardent recommendations. When we finished the process she was unable to opt out of the insurance, (which I understand isn’t underwritten through AT&T but through Slayton Wireless.) At any rate, this diminished the buying experience by yet another downward level.
